There's hope for those of you who think the Lord of the Rings books aren't long enough. I'm pretty sure I'll read this too. Personally I really like all the stories and the first book that Chris Tolkien finished (he actually just put it together for his dead father) the Silmarillion is really good.

Apparently DVDs don't work as tips in Colorado. Where's Lloyd when you really need him.

The Lord of the Rings novels are over-rated. The movies were ten times better, mainly because Peter Jackson tossed out all the unnecessary elements, like random characters singing random songs at the most inappropriate moments. Tolkien sucks!

I would say that you are correct, except I remember many a time when you and I broke out into random songs at innapropriate times. Oh show me the way to the last whiskey bar.

Yes, but when we broke into random songs it was delightful (to use any ways. Where as in the Lord of the Rings novels it just interrupts the narrative.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about:
"The Orcs were approaching the scared young hobbits. Frodo reached for the ring, just then Sam broke into a song about the Shire.

(Five pages later Sam finally finished singing his song.)

Frodo put on the ring and disappeared. Sam then broke into a another song about the Shire.

(Five pages later.)

"Hey, where's Mr. Frodo?" said Sam.

The End.

Those were the best songs in the whole book. Or the ones by Tom Bombadil.

Hi, I'm Tom Bombadil. Let me get that tree off of you.
